A Better World is set to launch a new crowdfunding campaign to fund a kid-friendly mobile game called A Better World for Kids. The campaign will aim to raise $200,000 on the crowdfunding website Indiegogo and begins November 18th. Funds raised will be used for the production and distribution of A Better World for Kids.

A Better World for Kids is a tablet game for children you can actually feel good about. Plenty of games teach kids reading, writing, and arithmetic, and that’s great! But, what about a game that teaches kindness, helpfulness, and ways to do good? Unlike games that provide bad examples, A Better World for Kids teaches good choices.

When I was a little girl, my elementary school gave out awards for students that went out of their way to be good citizens. Good citizens knew the difference between right and wrong, helped others and were always kind to those around them. I have several of these awards in my scrapbook. When I became a parent, it was even more evident that our world is in need of good people and that raising good citizens begins at home. I was extremely lucky to have wonderful examples of good citizenship.

If there is one thing (yeah if there was only one) I could change as a parent if I could go back in time it would be about a little thing called XBox. About 3-4 years ago I started having a big issue with my boys spending way too much time on the XBox. I struggled with the fact that they were playing with all their friends and that is pretty much the hang out place of this generation. We won’t even get into the games they were playing. It seems that this generation is surrounded by inappropriate content and violence. The boys no longer play (because I didn’t renew their LIVE membership) and things around our house seem so much more peaceful.

Thankfully not all games are centered around violence. I personally love puzzles and challenging games. My daughter enjoys these types of games too but she eventually gets bored with them. She really loves virtual games. That is why I’m excited about A Better World for Kids. The game is not quite ready to release and is still in the kickstarter mode. It is based off of the Facebook game A Better World.

Whether video games on consoles or a computer or apps on phones and tablets, games are everywhere these days. Most are for entertainment, but many these days are focusing on education and positive thinking. Though I don’t want Sweet T or Gus to be constantly staring at a screen, I appreciate that there are games that encourage learning and healthy practices. I don’t want them doing nothing but wasting time and I especially want them steered away from violent games.

A Better World for Kids is a game that promotes good deeds. I think we can all agree we need more of that in the world! The goal behind A Better World for Kids was create an alternative to those time wasting, violent games while promoting healthy habits and important values.

A number of years ago I started playing A Better World, a social game on Facebook that takes a bit of a twist, because in addition to being entertaining it rewards you for the good things you do in real life.

And now ToonUps the company behind A Better World has started a Kickstarter campaign to produce A Better World for Kids.  This virtual online game will aim to teach children a sense of community with kindness, online AND in their everyday lives.  It's an alternative to violent and time-wasting games that are offered to your kids.
